About Riverstone

The Cottage

Riverstone Cottage has a sunny deck that overlooks fields and a stream with a native bush backdrop. There are twin and queen size adjoining bedrooms upstairs.

The ground floor has a lounge with TV, shower room,toilet etc, and an artists studio with a woodburner to keep the cottage cosy on cooler days. Kitchenette has tea making facilities, a toaster and microwave.

There is a private courtyard area outside with a barbecue, table and chairs.

Continental or cooked breakfast is delivered to the cottage or you can join us in the house across the garden according to your choice.

Free WiFi is available.

The location is really rural and quiet yet is only five minutes from the village cafes and shops.


There’s lots to do in Kapiti and a variety of supermarkets and shops. Waikanae village and beach have many good restaurants.

For bird lovers there is the the Nga Manu bird sanctuary Kapiti Island and the river estuary reserve. For hikers there are many wilderness trails for varying degrees of fitness and we have two sections of the Te Araroa walkway which links North Cape to Bluff.

Car enthusiasts can visit the world class Southwards Car Museum at Otaihanga just south of Waikanae.

We have a regular train service to Wellington.

Eppie and Paul Murton are your hosts.

Eppie, an ex art teacher, spends her time gardening, painting and teaching art to local new artists. The local scenery and garden are inspiring. Come and paint or have an introductory lesson.

Paul an ex yachtie is now a model engineer specializing in clocks but also loves the outdoors exploring the old logging trails in the hills surrounding Riverstone. His engineers lathe and a chainsaw are the favourite toys.
